15 Months!

Charlotte Ann,

Our fearless little 15 month old, you are 1/4 of the way through your second year of life - the world is your oyster, and every day is a new adventure!  You are advancing so quickly, and I'm not sure which is growing faster: your vocabulary or your hair! You are so smart, sassy, sweet, and funny. Oh my, you are funny.

You are curious and bold.  It didn't take long after your first birthday for you to decide it was finally time to step out on your own and leave your speed-crawling ways behind you. You practically skipped walking and went straight into running! One of your favorite games is "chase," and you dissolve into a fit of giggles when Momma and Daddy chase you around the house, especially when we outsmart you and sneak up on you from both sides.

You are girly and tough all at the same time. You love getting your hair fixed, and you have learned the word "pretty," which you commonly say as you brush your own hair and insist on a "bow." On the other hand, you are one tough cookie.  You have been known to run full speed ahead while looking back to see if anyone is chasing you, and then run head first into a wall or the couch. But instead of crying, you usually say "uh-oh" or "oops" and then take off running again.

You have your Daddy's sense of humor and your Momma's sense of organization.  Recently, you learned that your Daddy's name is "JJ," which you think is pretty great.  You also love that Daddy works from home, and you get to enjoy lunch dates together.  During the day while he is working in his home office, you sometimes go and knock on his door, calling out "JJ!!!" followed by lots of giggles. And just like your Momma, you can sort and organize anything.  From diapers to socks and bath toys to Christmas ornaments, you are constantly stacking, arranging, and rearranging...always making sure everything is perfectly lined up.

Your sassiness is thankfully balanced out by your sweetness.  You have discovered a new independence that comes with shaking your head "NO," and you can give a look like the sassiest of teenagers when you don't want to do something.  Yet, you give the sweetest spontaneous snuggles and kisses. Along with blowing kisses, you are currently in a kissing phase, where anyone and anything within your near vicinity are fair game for receiving one of your slobbery smooches.  From your baby friends to your dogs to the mirror, you have been kissing everything in sight these days!

This Fall has been so much fun with you! Fall is our family's favorite time of year;  with so many birthdays, football season, and the holidays, there is so much to celebrate!  In October, we spent a long weekend in Beavers Bend, a beautiful mountainous area in southeast Oklahoma, to celebrate Momma's birthday.  Also, you loved visiting the pumpkin patch (where you much preferred pushing a wagon around instead of riding in it), a local farm fair, and enjoying the last of the warm weather swinging at the park.  You were a busy little bumble bee for Halloween and thought trick -or- treating was the best thing ever - never mind that you had no idea what candy was; knocking on strangers' doors and carrying around your very own "bag" was simply the best (once you finally realized people wanted to give  you something, not take something from your bag!)

The celebrations continued as we rejoiced in the baptisms and baby dedication of four cousins, from both sides of our family! As we enter the holiday season, we have enjoyed a family trip to the Christmas tree farm, a Christmas parade with cousins, and a ride down the Bricktown canal to see Christmas lights in downtown OKC.  You are so delighted by all of the holiday festivities - and the fact that we have a 12 foot tall "tree!" in our living room! (It is the first thing you look for every morning when you wake up, and we even put a smaller version in your own room.) The holidays are so much sweeter through your eyes!

Whether you're dancing around the living room to your favorite music, pulling your high chair right up into the kitchen for "Daddy Cooking Classes," or streaking through the house after your bath, you bring so much joy and laughter to this house! We love you so much and look forward to each and every day with you.
