10 Months!

Charlotte Ann,

You are turning into a fearless adventurer...so let the child-proofing projects commence! You are a speed-crawler, and love chasing your doggies, cousins, or anyone else who dares to race you around the house.  You can stand on your own and have thought about walking, but when you realize it's a slower process than speed-crawling, you change your mind. Only when Daddy's holding your hands do you like to walk, and even then you sometimes prefer to hop (thanks to your doorway jumper that has taught you how to work on your "ups.")

My dear, you have two speeds: GO...and SLEEP. There really is no in between. You tackle each new task with full force energy, so at night time you are exhausted and collapse into bed after a full day.  The only time you sit still in our laps, allowing us to rock you is when you we read bedtime stories, and you are hanging on every word. Even then, though, you are an active participant, turning the pages, pointing, and mimicking animal sounds. And then, there are rare nights when you are too exhausted to read bedtime stories and fall asleep in my arms during your bedtime feeding. I rock you and rock you, soaking in every minute of the rare stillness and a chance to gaze at your sweet sleeping (and did I mention still) little body.

This month, you went on your second cross-country trip when we flew to North Carolina to visit friends who you got to meet for the first time!  We knew that when you fell asleep on the flight there, something was wrong... as it turned out, you had a stomach virus that lasted for the first day of our trip. It took you the whole weekend to completely recover, but you were a trooper as we whisked you from house to house meeting friends, a wedding, church, and a cookout.  It was a fun family trip, despite your sickness.

This month you also discovered your new favorite activity...swimming! We took you for the first time while staying in a hotel with a pool. It should have come as no surprise to us that you LOVED it. We have gone several times now, and you are like a little fishy, kicking and splashing and just loving every minute. We also went to a splash pad recently, and you once again were fearless - you kept up with the big kids, crawling from fountain to fountain, squealing when a stream of water would spontaneously shoot up, even hitting you in the face.

We are loving this summer time with you! It's hard to believe that this time last year, we were just moving to Oklahoma and preparing to move into the house we would bring you home to.  So much has changed since then, and we wouldn't trade it for anything!

We love you, our little ray of summer sunshine!
Momma and Daddy
