Our sweet Adeline Grace,
Happy FIRST birthday! You are an absolute JOY, and you carry such a peaceful spirit. You are gentle and kind, sweet and strong. Our first year with you has been simply delightful! Here is a snapshot of your first year in pictures and milestones, and we look forward to what this next year will bring!
--------------------
On November 16, only 6 hours after your due date had passed, you came into this world with ease and grace! You arrived quickly and caught us all by surprise with your head full of dark hair!
1 Month
A pure bundle of joy, you joined our family at the most wonderful time of the year. You made our holidays sweeter, and we soaked up the chance to stay inside during the coldest months, snuggling every ounce of you. And what a SNUGGLER you are!
2 Months
Never a petite girl, we always said that God made you extra "sturdy" to keep up with your big sister. By two months, it was clear that you are incredibly strong and observant - always very alert, you weren't about to miss out on the world around you.
3 Months
You pleasantly surprised us when you were sleeping so well through the night by the time I returned to work at 3 months (this was something we weren't accustomed to before ; ) Though joyful and easygoing, you often had a contemplative look on your face. We were rarely lucky to catch a smile on camera, but it wouldn't be long before we would get to experience full on giggles.
4 Months
This was the month we started seeing your full personality begin to emerge. Instead of crying when you needed something, you were a little songbird singing a high pitched tune. By this month, you had mastered the art of rolling over, and you continued to be our little snuggle bug. One of the most calm babies we knew, you transitioned easily between caregivers and continued to be your parents' roommate.
5 Months
All smiles, rolls, coos, and giggles, this was such a fun month. You celebrated your first Easter and got to meet your cousins, Aunt Lauren, and Uncle Gib for the first time! They literally traveled across the world to see you, and you soaked up all the new attention and love.
6 Months
Your first little summer vacation took place this month, as we went to Dallas with our family (including your new favorite people - your cousins!) to stay at Great Wolf Lodge. You didn't care much for the water but were content to watch everyone else swim. We also explored some fun outdoor parks, and you loved being outside as always. This month you also mastered your wave and loved greeting familiar faces with it (but watch out, strangers, you better just keep walking ; )
7 Months
This month you were sitting up on your own, and "Momma" was your first (and favorite) word! My little sidekick, you rarely liked to be away from me. We had to work through some "stranger danger" even at places you visited often (like the church nursery), but your eyes sparkled when you saw someone you recognized. You don't care to work a room like your big sister, but you'd rather keep a small circle of "your people" who you know and trust.
8 Months
With summer in full force, you experienced a whole new world of parades and patriotic festivities, swimming (and actually enjoying it!) and more time with cousins. Still the calmest out of the bunch, you brought a nice balance to our cray crew :) Oh, and this month, you moved into your sister's room! It was a big transition for sure, but one that you handled gracefully as usual.
9 Months
Standing is the name of your game, and you began pulling up on everything in sight, from your crib to Momma's leg. We are in no hurry for you to walk, so take your sweet, sweet time little one! Also...first ponytail!!!
10 Months
Your vocabulary is rapidly expanding... along with regularly saying "Momma" and "Dada," you now proudly yell "Chaaaaalottte" to get your big sister's attention :) You are such a polite baby, always saying "tank youuuu," and you love chanting "bath! bath! duck! duck!" when we start your bedtime routine.
11 Months
This month was filled with beautiful fall weather, which meant lots of outings to the park and your first Halloween! You had a few costumes, including a bumble bee and the baby bear to Goldilock's fairytale. You continue to learn new words like "[ready, set].... GO!" and you blow the sweetest kisses. Your new favorite food is "go-gurt" and you insist on eating it for every meal!
12 Months!
Those two bottom teeth, those big blue eyes, that HAIR, and that giggle that can melt any heart... you are such a precious and joyful ONE year old, and we thank the Lord for each day we've been given with you for this entire year! We are absolutely in awe of the way you've fit perfectly into our family, and you truly light up our lives. We celebrate who you are and look forward to who you are becoming!
WE LOVE YOU ADDIE GRACE!
Momma, Dada, and Chhhhaaaaarlotte :)
