Age of Adeline: 3 Months!

Our Adeline,

3 months is a big milestone for us!!! I say us, because we are entering into a new season as a family at this point. For the first 3 months of your life, we have been home all together (made possible since Daddy works from home) and have spent every waking minute together as a family.  Now, Momma will transition back to her other full-time work (only second to her job as Momma), and you will spend your weekdays in the care of others.  A part of me mourns the ending of this newborn season, but mostly I am looking forward with grateful anticipation of what's to come! We may not have the same quantity of time from here on out during our weekdays, but you better believe the quality of snuggles when I get home from work will be better than ever...

We spent the last few weeks before my return to work savoring every chance to visit friends (who just happen to be raising your baby friends!) and enjoy little outings as a family.  On the day before you were born, your daddy and I spent the day at the zoo together; so, it was only fitting that the day before I return to work that we do the same! This time was without Daddy, but we got to share the adventure with our nanny and your big sister. It was surreal walking around the zoo this time with you on the outside of my belly instead of the inside. I still pinch myself most days that you're here and healthy and so beautiful!

This month, you have been all smiles, coos, and trying to perfect that roll... you aren't quite there yet, but you are trying!  It's like your eyes have been fully opened this month, as you are more aware of your surroundings.  It has been so incredible for us to notice the individuality between you and your sister, and to appreciate the ways in which God created you each so uniquely! While Charlotte was already "working the room" in a crowd of people at this point, you prefer to sit back and watch. You are extremely observant and love to be held close ( especially by Momma) as you take in your suroundings.

With eyes and hearts wide open, we enter into this new season together! You are an easy baby, if there ever was one, and we are thankful for your "go-with-the-flow" personality.  Very few things upset you, and you are normally content just to be near your people.  You continue to be our roommate, and you are quite a good one...already sleeping for 4-5 hour stretches at a time. Nighttime feedings are made much easier with you in our room, and did I mention you are a good eater?! That probably goes without saying...just look at those cheeks!

Here's to new adventures, as we discover our "new normal" on a totally different schedule! You have balanced our family in the best way possible, and we move forward with great anticipation for the best days that are yet to come...

We love you beyond belief,
Your people
