12 Months!

Charlotte Ann,

Happy ONE Year Birthday!!!

We want to shout with joy for not only surviving the notoriously sleep-deprived, first-time-parenting learning curve of a year, but for absolutely thriving in what has been the most wonderful season of our lives!

You have brought more joy and laughter to this family than we ever knew possible, and we are continually amazed by your sweet and adventurous little personality. Your name means "freedom" and you carry it well. You radiate a joyful energy and a passionate strong will. You love people, and you communicate well.  We know that these traits will serve you tremendously throughout your lifetime, and we truly believe that you will be a world changer!

For the record...

You weigh exactly 20 lbs and are 30 inches long.
You survived the first year with only 2 stomach viruses and Hand Foot and Mouth Syndrome (virus).
You are taking independent steps but still prefer speed-crawling [monkey-style, on your hands and feet, with your little booty sticking up in the air] as your main mode of transportation.
Your words include: Da-da, Ma-ma, Hi! Bye-bye, No, All-done, Yay! [Ba]na-na, Bath, Dog, Clock, Tick-tock, Light, Touch, Wow, Shoo-shoo
You can sign "all done," "more," "please," "milk," and "water"

Funny things you say/do...

Momma: Charlotte, say Ma-ma!
Charlotte: Da-da! [with a huge grin on your face]
Momma: Maaaa maaaaa
Charlotte: Dadadadadaaaaa!

"Charlotte, do you want some food/snack?"
"Mmmmmmmmmmmm"

"Charlotte, can you give snuggles?"
[Nuzzles face into our shoulder/neck] and says "Ahhhhhhh"

You clap for yourself after any accomplishment.

You can roll your tongue (like a Spanish "R") and love to make high-pitched trill noises

You love to wave... At everyone! You don't understand why some people don't wave back, so you just keep waving. And waving. And waving. And then, when you're finally tired of waving or talking to someone, you simply say "buh-bye."

Things you love...

Your family! You know "your people" and your face lights up anytime you see your grandparents/great-grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Oh, and of course your Momma and Daddy ; )
Miss Tiff (your nanny)
Giving "snuggles"
Music / singing / dancing
Books
Your dogs
Going for a run with Momma and Daddy in your stroller
Swinging
Being "chased"
Being around large groups of people
Food: all fruit (especially bananas and blueberries), scrambled eggs, Daddy's homemade waffles, sweet potatoes, carrots, cheerios, Goldfish, ham

It has been such a joy to watch you grow from the tiny, red-headed, wide-eyed newborn to the smiley, blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty over the past year!

We are so in love with you, sweet girl, and we know that life will only keep getting better with you in it!

Love,
Momma and Daddy
